June 2008 – Recipe – Make Your Own Dried Liver Treats

Dried LiverIf you are looking to use treats without all the filler most have and don’t mind getting your hands a little messy your dog is going to love these. When the liver is dried it can be stored in the fridge for about a week or in an air tight container for about 3 months.



 

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef liver
  • water
  • Directions

    1. Rinse liver in cool water.
    2. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil.
    3. Add liver to boiling water.
    4. Simmer for 1/2 to 3/4 hours until well done.
    5. Allow liver to cool.
    6. Cut liver into 1/2 inch cubes.
    7. Spread on a foil lined cookie sheet.
    8. Bake at 250 F for a minimum of 2 hours.
    9. Liver is done when dry to touch and has shrunk to approximately 1/4 inch cubes.
