Get your dog under control with clear, practical guidance that actually works
You do not need more generic advice. If you have worked through training videos, read articles, or tried standard approaches and are still not seeing consistent results, you are not alone. You need clear guidance that fits your dog, your home, and the problems you are actually dealing with day to day.
I work with puppy and dog owners across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and beyond through private Zoom consultations designed to help with real-life obedience, behavior problems, and getting things off to the right start.
These are not quick, surface-level sessions. They are thorough, practical, and designed to give you clear direction and follow-through so you are not left trying to figure everything out on your own afterward.
I review these personally. If I believe I can help, I’ll tell you the best next step. If I don’t, I’ll say so.
Who this is for
This is for owners who want clear, practical guidance they can apply in real life, not just in controlled situations.
It is for those who have tried other approaches and are still not seeing consistent results.
It is also for those who are open to a clearer, more practical way forward to teaching real-life skills, and/ or resolving behavior problems.
Problems I commonly help with
These are the situations I most often help owners solve when things are not working the way they should.
- Getting a puppy off to the right start
- Pulling on leash and lack of control on walks
- Jumping up on people and overexcitement
- Barking, whining, and difficulty settling
- Ignoring commands when it matters most
- Poor recall and lack of reliability off leash
- Inconsistent obedience between home and real-world settings
- Reactivity toward dogs, people, or environmental triggers
- Guarding behavior around food, toys, or space
- Aggression toward people or other dogs
Why owners book with me
Most owners who reach out have already tried a number of things.
What they are usually missing is not effort. It is clear direction, consistency, and a way to apply training in real life rather than in controlled situations.
My work is focused on helping you understand what is actually happening with your dog, what to continue doing, what to stop doing, and how to move forward in a way that makes sense day to day.
This is not about running through a list of techniques. It is about giving you a clear framework so your dog begins to understand what you mean and you are no longer working against yourself without realizing it.
Once you understand what is actually happening, the path forward becomes much simpler.
How the program works
The process is straightforward and designed to give you clarity from the start and support as you move forward.
You begin by sending information about your dog and what you are dealing with. I review this personally and let you know if I believe I can help.
If it is a good fit, you will receive a link to view pricing and schedule a time that works for you.
Before the consult, I may ask for additional details or short video clips so we can make the most of our time.
During the session, we work through what is happening, what needs to change, and how to apply it in a way that fits your day-to-day life.
After the consult, you will have follow-up support so you are not left trying to figure things out on your own.
What makes this different
This is not a quick fix.
It is not for owners who are looking for reassurance without making changes, or who expect their dog to improve without consistent follow-through.
It is not for situations where hands-on, in-person intervention is required immediately.
If you are prepared to apply what you learn and want clear, practical guidance, this can be a very effective way to move forward.

What owners are saying
Real results. Real dogs. Real owners.
“At first I was hesitant to try ‘online’ training, but the virtual+ is actually working out better than in-person because John’s responses are so quick and thorough, I’m able to re-watch videos to remember important tips, and the training is really between my dog and I instead of having someone else in-person influencing the dog’s behaviour.”
– Jessica Cordes
“We were unsure initially about training our dog virtually but after our session with John our doubts were quickly dispelled. We received clear step by step direction… We were encouraged to send in videos… which he evaluated and gave us his input… We highly recommend John Wade and his training methods which worked wonderfully via ZOOM.”
– Marysia Green
“Virtual support works great… all the way from Mongolia. … John’s initial introduction to the concept of ‘Nature’s Template’ and then his feedback to videos sent by the client together provide a great foundation and guidance tailored to the individual needs… I highly recommend John’s service to anybody looking for reliable, practical and effective guidance for dog training.”
– Sabine Schmidt
“We chose to set up Virtual Puppy Training for our Cane Corso puppy… choosing a virtual training program with the right balanced trainer who understands our breed far outweighed the risk of opting for a local trainer giving ineffective advice. … The video aspect … has been so hands on that it has truly felt like the equivalent of having an in person trainer come to our home.”
– Caitlyn Davis, Richmond, Virginia
“The convenience of having the support provided entirely online was very helpful but even more helpful was the immediate feedback as we were sending videoclips and asking questions.”
– Kathy Hibbert
“It has been less than a week since we started … and we are already seeing small changes in the puppy’s behaviour. Last week, I was in despair … and with John’s help through his video consulting services, I now believe that we will be okay.”
– Margaret Malthaner
