We’ve had a really eye- opening thoughtful and thorough experience with John,  Our 2 hour opening home visit was instrumental in John getting a first hand perspective on our dog’s manner and undesirable behaviours. John was able to provide insight into the likely sources with a thoughtful assessment based on published research that made correcting the behaviour that much more logical. The follow up video exchanges and commentary were also extremely informative and really helpful in tuning the training exercises.  There are no shortcuts to correcting bad behaviour in a dog but John was able to explain what was happening so that it all makes sense and we have a path forward to improve our pup’s demeanour. Our dog was a rescue who was very anxious.  He didn't have a great start to life and we unfortunately missed the puppy imprinting stage of his life.  We had tried several different trainers.  John was wonderful.  Everything we talked about made sense.  His visit to our house was super helpful as he could see the dog in his environment and was definitely more helpful. I cannot state how important it was to us to receive the daily feedback on the exercises we were doing.  John reviewed the videos and provided immediate feedback on how to improve technique and steps we could do to move forward. It is an effort but well worth it. John came to our home to meet us and our crazy Chessie! He was very detailed. He explained everything and answered all our questions. The 10 days of video exchange have been amazing to help with the daily details and adjustments. We are noticing positive changes in our dog's attention to us and his ability to see us as the teacher. John initially came to our home to meet our puppy and we immediately saw a difference and potential in what our puppy was capable of. John explained the research of his techniques and why they are so effective. He gave us extensive resources to help build a foundation for our training. He demonstrated the key exercises to work on and has a 10 day video exchange follow up. We have been working with John for 10 days now and are seeing great improvement with our 2 dogs. Much less running wild and much more looking to us for direction. Many of the exercises and tips were very easy to implement and the impact is big. We will continue to work with the dogs through taking advantage of all of the learnings and resource materials from John. Consistency is key and that’s on us 🙂 But, a simple few adjustments go a long way. I highly recommend John if you are needing some guidance/help with your dog(s). I have had dogs for over 25 years and recently adopted a 1.5 year old lab. I decided to get a trainer to be able to help this dog be the best he can be and me too. John came to the house and laid a great foundation of training principles and practical exercises. But the most valuable is the 10 day video follow up. Each day John would send an email with training tips and principles. During that 10 day period I was encouraged to send videos of me and Coal doing the exercises. John would review the video and send one back showing specifically where I could improve my training technique and what to do. John would also answer specific questions and send a video response with exercises and tips. I have noticed a great improvement in an already pretty good dog, but I believe John's training has prevented any bad habits from forming.
