She never wants to come in my room and hang with me but when my boyfriend visits she never wants to leave.. why is this so?
This fear/anxiety issue is more common than you might think and usually entirely avoidable. Often people think it’s due to the dog being abused by what it fears, but the truth is the problem is almost always due to a breeder’s neglect to provide appropriate exposure at the correct age, and then failing to inform the new owners of the limited window to complete proper imprinting.
Imagine walking along with your dog some dark night, and someone approaches suspiciously making you a little nervous. You give a silent hand signal, and, or say, “Warn Him!, and your dog erupts into a cacophony of barking?
In this episode a puppy that is currently starting to nuisance bark is taught instead – to bark only on command – and the command is – “Warn Him”. Just a trick, so we’re not taking on the risk and associated liability of actually encouraging aggression, but in these uncertain times, perhaps a handy trick, in these uncertain times, a handy one.
