This fear/anxiety issue is more common than you might think and usually entirely avoidable. Imagine walking along with your dog some dark night, and someone approaches suspiciously making you a little nervous. You give a silent hand signal, and, or say, “Warn Him!, and your dog erupts into a cacophony of barking?

In this episode a puppy that is currently starting to nuisance bark is taught instead – to bark only on command – and the command is – “Warn Him”. Just a trick, so we’re not taking on the risk and associated liability of actually encouraging aggression, but in these uncertain times, perhaps a handy trick, in these uncertain times, a handy one.

Excessive barking is not an uncommon problem. I thought this case was interesting because I think the problem is more due to ideology in the way we are told to train and live with dogs, and an example of how it impacts the lifestyle of companion dogs.
