NEWSLETTER DESIGN SIMPLIFICATION
I’ve decided to make my life a little easier and just go to a simple text format for the newsletter. It’s like how I wish more dog breeders looked at what they do. Function before fashion. I hope you don’t mind.

NEW STUDY SAYS DOGS ALIGN THEIR BODIES TO MAGNETIC NORTH/SOUTH WHEN THEY POOP
I had my doubts about the validity of results of this study until I read it. The researchers concluded that if there weren’t distortions in the earth’s magnetic field (and there frequently are) dogs reliably lined their bodies north/south when they pooped. The theory as to why was that dogs need to navigate and as do other animals like birds utilize the earth’s magnetic field. They suggested that it was sort of like a human navigating somewhere and periodically checking a road map to align themselves mentally. https://www.askthedogguy.com/new-study-says-dogs-align-bodies-north-south-poop

WHY DO UNQUALIFIED VETERINARIANS OFFER BEHAVIOUR ADVICE?
I really enjoy and highly recommend Dr. Mercola’s human health daily newsletter. It’s one of my favorite morning reads. However recently he provided an article that sort of made me mad. I’ve read the same sort of tripe before and normally it goes in one ear and out the other but because I value his opinion and the resources he provides so much I was disappointed. I should say, he didn’t write it, it was a veterinarian he uses for behaviour advice. I’m sure she means well but based on her article she’s not the most critical thinker and the dog behaviour topic seemed obvious to not be really her area of expertise. https://www.askthedogguy.com/dr-mercola-newlsetter-dog-behavior-bugged/

RECENT ASK THE DOG GUY COLUMNS
2 thoughts on “John Wade’s Ask the Dog Guy Newsletter (January 2014)”
Hi John, my brother has a 4 1/2 month old ambullneo mastiff that leaks little dribbles of urine at times. He did have a UTI infection but was treated for it. I think it’s submissive urination and have told him not to punish or scold but I don’t think he believes me. Your thoughts?
I like the new format, John – very simple and easy. Love the photo of the dog reading the newspaper. As always, it’s a great read.
